YES, tongue redness , sores along the edges can a d prob are related to lupus.
*There is also s pain syndrome called 'Burning tongue syndrome'...OUCH i had this a few yrs back. My tongue would be buring like i had eaten Hot peppers, but had not. I'd take benadryl, xanax, pain med.Tried ice but made it worse. It was HORRIBLE! Would last hrs. Docs thought because of my lupus. It since has resolved, since my lupus settled down.

Dry mouth which we often have with lupus can cause tongue burning. It really helps to avoid mint toothpastes and acidic foods like citrus, tomato, spicy foods, etc. Sensodyne toothpaste and drinking water help as well. Good luck.

I had burning tongue syndrome after COVID. It lasted for about a year. Now, I get it periodically due to lupus I'm sure.

I have similar issues as with @A MyLupusTeam Member. I would let your rheumie know, so that they are aware.
I haven’t had ulcers/sores or redness in awhile as I switched to a non-mint toothpaste as the mint would “burn” as I brushed. I also swish and spit with L-Glutamine 500mg twice daily. It works really well! Highly recommend❤️

I used a to have sores growing up. Mostly on my lips. I have always had what is called a "geographic tongue." The dentist just told me to brush my tongue. I have no open sores inside my mouth.
