Anticoagulation For Anticardiolipd+?

So I have + antilupus antibodies, but was on Xarelto at time of testing. Will Xarelto give false positive? If no, is Coumadin a better choice when one has already had multiple PEs and DVTs?

Xarelto will not affect antibody test results. As an internist, coumadin has always been considered the best choice, and a higher INR goal is necessary for those with the lupus anticoagulant as it increases clot risk greatly. However, it wouldn't hurt to check with a hematologist for more up-to-date recommendations.
Good luck!

I have SLE and the lupus clotting factor (I had a DVT at age 18). I met with a hematologist a few years ago because I'm tired of monthly INR blood tests. He said I should stick with Coumadin because the newer blood thinners haven't been tested for antiphospholipid syndrome. Maybe this has changed since my last appointment. I would be happy to hear what others have experienced.
