Steroids can aggravate this, if you're on them for the flare. I hope you're improving.

Hi BrendaRamirez2
I was put on methotrexate 15 years ago to stop lupus nephritis 2 getting worse. It worked for that at least.
My rheumatologist kept me on it. Eventually I felt like you do now about 1 year ago and the methotrexate was making me sick. He said it wasn’t working for me anymore. So put me on myfortic and 5mg prednisone. It has settled the lupus down. Only get flares if I get an infection over do things. The usual downs of life as you said. Our bodies with this cruel disease react to the smallest of things. The worst part is our minds know better but the body just does what it wants. Which we have no control over. I lose appetite for awhile then eat like a horse which I thought was emotional eating and my weight fluctuates up and down all the time. I am a chubby checker so know what you mean by so frustrating. Having flares for that long can be very depressing as well. All I can say is I feel what you are saying and understand completely. I only just found this site yesterday.
Because in Australia we don’t seem to have these sort of support groups on line as much as America.
It helps so much to talk to people who know what it’s all about. In my social world if I am limping around lopsided and say ow that hurt. I am told we all hurt it’s old age it’s only normal. Got to love that one. When the ones who say that can walk 20km or 10 miles without flinching and I can hardly stand up in the shower. Have to laugh. So that’s why I’m here. And now hearing all you wonderful warriors feeling similar to me I don’t feel so isolated anymore.
Thinking of you and hope life settles a little soon so you can just think of you.💜

This lupus is so unpredictable. I have had it for 20 years and I still can’t understand it. Like comparing Dana3s reaction to hunger and prednisone compared to mine. Same meds same feelings but different outcomes. Hugs to you Dana 3 and may an affordable cure come soon.

Currently I'm on a maintenance dose of 5 mg Prednisone but just added methotrexate. I've basically been having a flare since October. It got a little better but one thing after another keeps happening.
Sometimes I guess I eat to comfort myself which doesn't really work. I don't eat a lot of junk food though.
Right now I don't really have much of an appetite, just a little something 3 x day, a bowl of oatmeal with blueberries, a turkey sandwich in grilled sourdough bread, soup, maybe an afternoon snack.
Yet I'm overweight ! Frustrating.
