High LDH Level And ANA Change

A MyLupusTeam Member asked a question 💭
Electra, TX

Has anyone ever had high LDH levels and aldase levels? My dr just wrote watch next to my results. I have alot of muscle pain. Not sure what this really means. Also my ANA pattern has changed from speckled and homogenous to fine speckled. Anyone have this happen?

@A MyLupusTeam Member. You’re right. Doctors don’t explain anything with blood results. If your levels are high, they don’t explain it. I’m getting to the point where I think a lot of doctors don’t know how to interpret them effectively and use them to help understand symptoms. It’s best to look up what the results mean so you can help yourself. This is what I do. Keep in mind with Lupus the blood results are not always reflective to the symptoms happening to you. Still call your rheumatologist with your questions.

If you have inflammation or pain in your body, figure out where it’s coming from. If it’s joint issues, go see an orthopedic surgeon (I’m dealing with this now). You have to fight hard for yourself every time. If you don’t understand something, make the doctor explain it to you. If that doctor is too lazy to help you figure things out, find another one. I’ve dumped doctors if they aren’t a fit for me. It took me time to get the right medical team. Don’t stop fighting for yourself.

The high LDH and aldolase suggest muscle inflammation/injury ongoing, which you may want to talk to your doctor about since you're in so much pain.

If doc only wrote watch, it's probably only slightly elevated which could mean a marker of inflammation. With ANA changes, it could be a flare which whacks out blood results. I wouldn't worry about it to much. You can always call the doctor's office and ask if the nurse can explain the results. Be sure to to ask the doctor what things mean and if you should be worried about the results while you're there. We are our only advocate. Be sure you understand your results and don't walk out shaking your head or wondering. Remember, stress causes flares and not knowing causes major stress. Hope this helps.

Thank you. I agree. This gets confusing.

You should probably give them a call and ask.
