My daughter, 12, is still being diagnosed (after spending ten days in the hospital earlier this month). She officially has fibro but they are still trying to determine if it’s primary or secondary (from lupus-as she has many lupusy symptoms according to her rheumatologist). According to Dr. Michelle Petri, one of the leading national experts at Johns Hopkins, taking melatonin can stimulate the immune system and aggravate lupus, though this hasn't been proven.
Insomnia is unfortunately a lupus problem and you will not see it get better until they get the lupus under control. She needs a appt with a rheumatologist and she will need to meet certain criteria even ones that are not just labs like a butterfly rash. The sooner you get it under control the better and less damage to her vital organs. So get your doctor to go ahead and get her a appt with a pediatric rheumatologist bc this is the type of doctor who treats lupus. Don't be surprised if she is diagnosed with a second connective tissue disease bc a lot of times they come in pairs but the medications are the same for most of them. May God Bless Your Daughter With Full And Complete Remission.
So sorry to hear that your child is suffering. Blessings.
I have heard that you shouldn't take melatonin all the time because your body makes its own and if you do this, it will quit making any. Also Benadryl has been associated with memory loss. I take hydroxyzine for sleep and Ondansetron (Zofran) for nausea.
20mg melitonian and 2 Benadryl at the same time
