My Rheumo prescribed Hydroxychloroquine a couple months ago and I have yet to take it. I had been taking hydroxychloroquine/Plaquenil for over 30 years. I guess it kept me in pretty good shape. I did/do have flares, but I deal with them and eventually feel better. When I started, I was told that it could affect my eyes. I have eye checkups every six months. I just recently developed macular degeneration and am now under the care of an ophthalmologist. The ophthalmologist and rheumatologist said to stop the medication immediately. I hope to get this latest problem under control as soon as possible. Good luck with what you are doing to keep yourself well.
