I spent my time yesterday in the hospital thinking I was having a heart attack😳. The pain was really intense and not being able to move without pain made me panic like crazy. Turns out I have costochondritis. Has anyone ever had it and how do you deal with it?
Costochondritis is cartilage inflammation at the junction between the ribs and the sternum and can feel scary-- like a heart attack. It occurs in healthy people too, and isn't dangerous. It's most common in middle-aged women, and I've seen much of it over the decades in patients.
I experience it too off and on. I just take aspirin. It can be quite shocking. . .The first time was particularly scary, but now I know that it's inflammation. Yes, it would be great to know how to keep the inflammation from recurring.
@A MyLupusTeam Member, ohh i know of the panic attack feel.
With costochondritis though, breathing deep hurts alot n the pain radiates across my chest area (and down my arm at times). I was told it's when the chest wall gets inflammation and it usually goes away on its own. They give aspirin n ibuprofen for it but I'm allergic to both so regular painkillers alone for me🥲. It'll be nice to be able to deal with the inflammation part n not just the pains😔
I never heard of that before but I’ve dealt with the chest pain. They told me that I was having a panic attack.
What is it? Not heard of it.
