Shanell, this may be due to a sinus or tooth infection, though it may be lupus-related. Please see your doctor for an examination.

You're definitely not crazy! Facial pain and sensitivity is something that many people with lupus experience. This can manifest as burning sensations, aching, or general discomfort across the face. Some people describe feeling like their cheekbones are burning or that their face feels bruised even without any visible injury. This facial pain could be related to inflammation from lupus or could be a sign of an upcoming flare. Some triggers that might cause or worsen facial discomfort include:
- Sun or UV light exposure
- Hot showers
- General lupus inflammation
- Certain lupus medications, particularly some steroids

It's important to discuss these symptoms with your doctor, as they can help determine the exact cause and recommend appropriate treatment options to help manage the pain.
