Josie, acid reflux is a very common cause of nausea, along with medication side effects. Have you seen your doctor about it? You could try over-the-counter acid blockers, such as famotidine (Pepcid), to see if they help in the meantime.

Nausea can be a side effect of medications commonly used to treat lupus, particularly hydroxychloroquine (HCQ/Plaquenil). Taking this medication with food or an antacid may help reduce nausea symptoms.

Some MyLupusTeam members have found success by taking their medication with food and gradually adjusting to it over time. If nausea persists, your doctor might suggest trying a different formulation or brand of the medication. It's important to discuss persistent nausea with your healthcare provider, as they can:
- Evaluate if medication adjustments are needed
- Suggest ways to manage the symptoms
- Consider if other factors might be contributing to the nausea
- Recommend appropriate treatment modifications

Less commonly, endocrine or metabolic problems such as adrenal insufficiency or high calcium levels can also cause nausea, Josie. Usually, it's due to a GI issue. I hope you're feeling better!

To Josie , I’m not sure about the nausea. I really don’t have that problem, but hope it gets better soon.
