These symptoms should not be ignored and require immediate medical attention. While heart palpitations can be a symptom of lupus, experiencing them constantly along with shortness of breath and chest pain could indicate a serious condition that needs evaluation.

You should seek emergency medical care immediately if you:
- Have persistent chest pain or pressure
- Feel like you can't catch your breath
- Experience ongoing palpitations
- Have pain in your jaw, neck, or shoulders Many MyLupusTeam members have shared similar experiences with heart palpitations during lupus flares. While occasional palpitations may be normal, having them continuously along with other symptoms needs proper medical evaluation. It's always better to get checked at the emergency room and find out everything is okay than to ignore potentially serious symptoms.

Remember to inform your rheumatologist about any ER visits or new symptoms, as they may need to adjust your treatment plan accordingly.
