I've had at times, cramps in my lower legs and feet, they feel like it could pull the tendon from the bone. I have to stretch that part, it wakes me up and I have to get out of bed to deal with it.

Yes, lupus SLE can affect tendons throughout the body, including the Achilles tendon. Lupus can cause inflammation in tendons (tendinitis) and can also lead to tendon laxity, where the tendons become loose and don't properly hold muscles and bones together. This combination of inflammation and laxity can increase the risk of tendon problems, including potential tears.

Here are key points about lupus and tendon issues:
• Inflammation from lupus can directly affect tendon tissue
• Tendon laxity can cause bones to slip into wrong positions
• Repetitive movements can increase risk of tendon problems
• Physical stress on affected tendons may increase injury risk To protect your tendons when you have lupus, it's recommended to:
• Warm up before any physical activity
• Build strength and flexibility gradually
• Rest when experiencing pain
• Use ice for inflammation
• Consult your healthcare provider about pain management options

If you're experiencing Achilles tendon pain or suspect a tear, contact your healthcare provider immediately for proper evaluation and treatment.
