I've had brain fog for several years. It's horrible and ruining my life. The memory problems are horrible too. I have problems where I can't tell which side of the car to get in on or sort my dollar money in my wallet. Sometimes in the morning I can't figure out which foot to put my shoe on. I can't park my car straight for the life of me. My speech is messed up too. It's like my brain is going faster than my mouth or vice versa. I avoid getting into conversations, it's just too awkward. Does anyone else have that speech problems? I have had a stroke in the past and always wonder if it's from the lupus or the stroke?
Seeing my rheumatologist today for the first time in a few months going to ask him if there's any new treatments for brain fog. But from looking on the internet I don't think there is? I do take hydroxychloroquine for the last few years. It's helped some.

Cognitive disruptions, loss of focus at times, memory issues

I've been in a flare state since before I was diagnosed. One of the reasons I insisted on more testing from my PCP is because I kept losing my nouns and forgetting what I was saying mid-sentence. I've always been a very articulate person and called a word/grammar Nazi by my family, so when I started losing these things I was afraid that I had early-onset Alzheimer's. I'm still able to focus on tasks that require concentration, but the loss of words is really hard for me and my family because they have difficulty understanding me at times. Like everything else, symptoms are different for everyone. Keep a journal and take it with you to your appointments so you don't forget what you want to speak with your doctor about.
