Dry eyes cause intermittent blurring, Judy. I suggest you try over-the-counter artificial tears when it occurs to see if they help-- or just use them 3-4 times daily and see how you do. Many of us have dry eyes due to Sjogren's syndrome, also autoimmune.

High blood sugars can also cause blurriness off and on, so please get your Hba1c checked and blood sugar.

Blurry vision can absolutely be connected to lupus — so it's worth taking seriously, especially since it's been going on for a year!

Up to one-third of people with lupus experience some kind of eye-related issue. Blurry vision is one of the more common ones. There are a few lupus-related reasons this could be happening:

- Dry eye syndrome — affects around 20% of people with lupus and can cause blurry vision, burning, or the feeling something is in your eye
- Uveitis — inflammation of the eye's middle layer, which can cause blurred vision and light sensitivity
- Retinal issues — lupus can affect blood vessels in the retina, leading to vision changes
- Medication side effects — long-term use of hydroxychloroquine (Plaquenil) can affect the retina over time

It's really important to see an eye doctor (ophthalmologist) about this, especially since it's been ongoing for a year. Let them know you have lupus so they can do a thorough check.

Regular eye exams are genuinely important for managing lupus well — don't put this one off! 👀

I've gone to the eye doctor and they did x-rays all the way around my eyes and they said there's nothing wrong. So it's just another mystery
