My only concern with Car T cell therapy is the chemo and the hit your bone marrow takes. There are free trials you can sign up for.

@A MyLupusTeam Member my dear friend❤️it's a promising new treatment, it's like a reset of our loopy (pun intended) immune system, it's not a cure but most patients with autoimmune disease went into complete remission requiring NO meds!!! I was never in remission, it's been a rocky road and I'd desperately need an extended break

CAR T-cell therapy is a really exciting development in lupus research! It was originally developed for cancer treatment, but researchers are now exploring its potential for lupus — particularly for those who haven't responded well to conventional treatments.

Here's what's known so far:

- T-cells are collected from a person and modified to target and destroy specific cells driving the disease
- Early research suggests it could lead to long-term remission
- It's still in early clinical trials for lupus, so it's not yet widely available as a standard treatment Because it's still in the trial phase, there aren't many people with lupus who have received it yet outside of research settings. A 2024 study did show promising results, which is genuinely encouraging news!

If this is something of interest, speaking with a rheumatologist about eligibility for clinical trials could be a great next step. Clinicaltrials.gov is also a helpful resource for finding active lupus-related trials.
