I’ve been asking my rheumatologist why I keep gaining water weight suddenly, 10lbs in 2 days, then losing it over the next week or so. She doesn’t seem to know why. I feel like it must be lupus nephritis. So far I’ve only been diagnosed with SLE.
I woke up this morning and could barely open my eyes they were so swollen. I feel as swollen as a tick!
I had orders for lab work so I had it done this morning. Maybe the results will show something while I am actively having a flare?
What does your urine look like? And have your doctor ran a urine sample and protein/creatine?
I went from March 2026 to July 2026 before I finally convinced my old nephrologist to order a kidney biopsy. My UPCR was always giving normal numbers until recently. It's worth it to research and actually see even how your body behaves, what your own urine looks like and talk to your rheumatologist...
Hope you find out something soon!!
Getting that lab work done during an active flare was a really smart move — timing can make a big difference in catching what's going on. Swollen eyes, sudden fluid gain, and then losing it over days are absolutely worth investigating seriously.
