what exactly does Lupus remission mean. Is it that the disease is not active in your blood work or does it mean no pain and other symptoms?

I means that your symptoms are under control, not necessarily completely gone. Our blood work is never "normal" but will reflect no active inflammation. My rheuma prefers the term "quiet" because it is never gone just controlled. People in "remission" may or may not be removed from medication during this period. Many people cycle through periods of active and quiet periods.

Thank you for that simple explanation!

My rhummy believes that a flare only involves major organs; lung, heart or kidneys.

How would you describe a flare?
