Has anyone ever felt they were misdiagnosed? Sometimes I like to think the doctor was wrong and that I don't really have lupus because it's the only way I can be happy. How have you guys managed to accept your diagnosis and still be happy? Every time I go to my rheumatologist I'm expecting him to say he was wrong and I'm always sadly disappointed.

@A MyLupusTeam Member I have the opposite problem. I have tons of lupus symptoms but I can't get any help with it because when I finally get to a rheumy, the flare has died down and they tell me that nothing is wrong with me. I wanted to try plaquinel because I heard that it reduces photosentivities but I can't get anyone to believe me. Meanwhile I live a hermits life trying to stay out of the sun all the time. God have mercy, I live in the state of Arizona! I could go on and on with all of the ways that my lupus symptoms limits my life however, no rheumy will believe me therefore I get no help. Needless to say it is very depressing(another lupus symptom). and the beat goes on........................

I felt relief at first with my diagnosis, yay it wasn't all in my head and I am not a hypochondriac, but as time wears on and symptoms take their toll on your body and life it is hard. I def recommend therapy. Counseling has helped me and my family deal with all the things that come with a chronic illness.

I was that way too at first. I lost my Naval career when I was diagnosed officially. 'If they don't find it, don't provide it' is the motto when joining the military! Lol! All seriousness though, I was hoping for my labs to miraculously come back normal. I was hoping to not need blood thinners anymore and rebelliously stopped taking them. Another DVT formed last June. I've finally decided to stop living in denial. I have Lupus. I have to live with this sucky condition no one knows much about. This is my life. Dealing with it personally, I still have days where it doesn't seem fair. If like to work full time again, but clinging to the past only makes things worth. I'm learning to play my strengths. You're still you. You can still be who you were before you're diagnosis. You just have to adapt the way humans have for centuries. Find different ways to do activities you enjoy. Find new activities. Feel sorry for yourself for a second, but only a second, then pick yourself up, fix your face and carry on! Head up! You can live beautifully, even with Lupus! It'll take work but you can do it! :)

;) that's why we have sites like this to talk to. How long have you been diagnosed?Psychologically, we have to deal with the 5 stages of grief.. it takes time to accept it. Until you do, we are here to answer questions, talk to you and be a friend who really understands since we are in the same lupie boat. ☺
