Obtaining chloroquine

A MyLupusTeam Member asked a question 💭
Spicer, MN

My pharmacy is telling me that they're having a hard time getting Clora Quinn in. After I was diagnosed with lupus I tried five or six different medications plaquinile
methotrexate etc. The only med
that made any difference was Chloroquine ! My doctor at Mayo said there was no other medication to try. That
the last medication for me to try to obtain any relief was chloroquine! Is anyone else running into this difficulty?

NO Plaquenil IS NOT THE SAME AS CHLOROQUINE THE PLAQUENIL caused a horrible reaction and almost killed me! The chloroquine is ONE MOLECULE DIFFERENT THAN PLAQUENIL AND THAT MAKES A HUGE DIFFERENCE chloroquine is really hard to come by right now but they still manufacturer Plaquenil

Plaquenil is a popular chloroquine. I have heard there is a national shortage; not sure why. Hopefully it will be resolved soon.
