How many people have had someone tell you that you don't look sick? Also how many people have told you that you don't look like you need a disabled placard? I've actually had someone call the police on me because they tho I was using someone else's placard.
Happens to me all the time. When I'm in a pissy mood and someone asks why I need a disabled placard I have two reply's, the first is "do you have an hour so I can fill you in?" The second is "I can't Cook" But usually I try to be nice and just ignore the comment.
I actually had someone leave a very nasty note on my windshield stating that I should be ashamed to park in a handicap parking spot because im no more handicapped than them. It really embarrassed me and made me mad. My husband was really mad. I have had to just let it go and not dwell on what irher people think.
This has happened to me. Lupus has really taught me that what you..isn't necessarily what's going on. Let those fools just go in one ear and out the other.
I recently started thinking about getting a placard since my joints are acting up again and I have been worried about what other will think when they see a young-ish lady getting out of a handicap vehicle. I know that it is easy to think negatively about someone when they are using a handicap spot and THEY don't look handicapped. I've been guilty of it myself even recently - but then I catch myself and remember that that someone else could think the same about me. I've recently been thinking about putting a note in my car (when I get the placard) to explain my condition. Not as an excuse or because I have to explain myself to strangers but to educate and remind people that what you see isn't always the full story.
Happens to me all the time, and i just want to say... well you look stupid.. don't hear me saying anything..
Or oh i would of never guessed you were sick... Sorry i dont look like i'm dying... Don't let them get to you... they are just wrong for doing that... They need to mind there own business
