The tops of my feet swell so much in walking shoes or any shoes that aren't open on the top. If it happens, the bones in my feet hurt so badly, I am unable to walk for several days after wearing them. I found Ryka sandals for the summer that have Velcro straps I can adjust if swelling begins. I need real shoes for the winter. Wide shoes are too wide and cause my feet to slip. Do you have any suggestions for a type of shoe to try? Winter is coming quickly.

SAS shoes. You can get them online. I purchased a pair of slip on and love them. Also, a shoe that is called SKATER SHOE'S. You can get them at a store called ZOOMIE'S or online. They really are for skateboarders and my son talked me into a pair and love them. They are tie up tennie's but, I can slip them on and off. Very comfortable. Good luck and I hope this helps you..

I don't know if this will help, but I use elastic laces for my tennis shoes. You can find them on Amazon.
If your feet are big enough, Keen and Merrill men's shoes are great. They have a pricey winter boot (rated to 20° below zero). The shoe lasts for a long time.
I was given UGG shoes with sheep wool lining as a gift. I have replaced the footed often, but they are nice on sore feet when it's cold.

Not sure if this is the most fashionable idea but have you tried Crocs? They allow for swelling pretty well and are soft to walk in - easy on your bones. Living in these northern states as we do they are certainly not warm but they do offer ones lined with a lambs wool type of material. I have never tried them myself but my mother in law used to wear them all the time for her terribly swollen feet and ankles. Good Luck!
