I have been taking methotrexate for four months. Every week I lose more and more hair. I was fine with it at first because I was only losing enough hair for me to notice but it is getting so bad that I am considering cutting my hair short because my hair is everywhere. It's embarrassing when I have to pick my own hair off of people's shirts that are around me. Most days I just keep my hair in a bun to avoid shedding everywhere. Thank you for your input.....In addition to my Massage career, I was an Oncology Nurse before I got
into therapeutic healing. I am very aware about adding any drugs to my arsenal and I always recommend
that one should read up about a new drug on line, that you've never taken. Doctors are busy and forget the small details. God Bless!

Let your primary care doctor know you are taking methotrexate because there are a spectrum of antibiotics that you can't mix with it according to my rhuematologist. I'm off the methotrexate while taking my antibiotic, but can go back on it once I'm finished with the antibiotic.

I've only been on it a couple of weeks and now have to go off of it due to being on antibiotics. If it can help control my flares, I'll be a happy camper. The paquenil wasn't working as well. My hair has thinned out, but it could be because of my age and the lupus. If I have to get it cut, I'll live with it.

I recently started using Methotrexate and haven't experienced hair loss more than normal. Did your dr. prescribe folic acid to use to combat side effects associated with this drug? I also have long hair which took me forever to grow and would hate to have to cut it.
