I think you should have it at least every three months. I went to my rheumatology because of my inflammation and he ran a lab to see why after being on prednisone for two months and my swelling was still there, he wanted to try to put me in a study to see if some other med would work, so he ran some blood and urine test and he found out that I could not go through the study because they found that I had caught TB from some where or somebody. so I went to my doctor and told her that my rheumatologist had said I had TB and she ran some blood and labs to see what she finds and she said my liver, lungs, and kidneys are good but she had to put me on three other meds for nine months to prevent me from further damage of the TB. So to make a long story short I was having symtons of TB and didn't know what it was until I read up on TB after the doctor informed me of having it. So blood work is important at least every three months I think or when you feel something going on that don't feel good!!!
I have my labs every 8 weeks,I've been on prednisone for a a while so the Dr check's to make sure my glucose is normal.I also have bone density every 2 yrs,I had a 5 mo kidney bleed, where I was urinating blood for 5 mos,so they check the kidney function as well.Having a good Dr is key in dealing with this disease.
It should be every months but if I feel there is not something not right ( fatique, increasing pain, temp.) I would check my bloods, specially urinalysis because lupus is high risk of nephritis.
I normally get my bloods done, every 3 months really. When I am due at my appointment at rheumatology
The rheumatologist have to gauge the correct dosage of medicines are correcting lupus in your serum or blood. I typically get blood drawn every visit. I hope the blood letting stops to every 6 months and decrease on the medications.
