Guildford, UK

Is anyone familiar with the private hospital London lupus centre in the UK? My doctor recommended it as the best specialist centre for lupus in Europe. I was thinking of getting in touch but would like to hear your feedback if you have been there. Also, I'm concerned about it being a private hospital and if it will be too expensive for me to afford.
Thanks a lot.

Thanks for your replies and for your advice. Yesterday I decided to call to get more information. The London Lupus Center is part of the London Bridge hospital, I'm not sure if it's also called St Thomas. It is costly indeed, the first visit is £230 and the following visits are a little bit less but still above £200. Unfortunately, this does not include the cost of any blood tests or additional exams. Some of the cost could be covered by health insurance, if you have one. However, this doesn't apply to my case, since I've already been diagnosed, and lupus is a chronic disease that doesn't really have a cure. When I was told this by my health insurance, I was shocked and almost in tears. So unfair. But I imagine there are many more people in this same situation with other diseases or conditions for which expenses are not covered... Anyway, I decided to book an appointment, because the pain in my joints has worsened lately, probably because of the cold, and I want to check if I need stronger medications. Moreover, my rheumatologist spoke very highly of the doctors at this hospital. Luckily I can bring all the results of my exams, so hopefully I won't need to re-do them. I will keep you updated on how it goes.

Hi Robin,
Would this be at the London bridge hospital? If so, it would be private. Although I'm seeing a doctor through the NHS which also sees patients at London Bridge hospital. He's very good, but he sees NHS patients at St George's his portal. If you want, I can give you his name?
