My doctor called mine "early Lupus" which sounds about the same as mild. He told me it may or may not progress. Unfortunately, there's no way of knowing. The best we can do is follow our doctors' treatment plan, eat well, exercise and rest when we need it. And pray, of course! It's good that your doctor caught it early. All the best!
I was diagnosed 2011. The wierd thing with me was that i started with alot of flareups, headaches, fevers, and many more symptoms like every 2 weeks. Thats what lead me to see my dr. I actually had to go through several drs. Blood work would come back normal. Until one day my hands started to turn blue when it would get cold and so when my new dr did blood work it came back positive. I Was sent to see a specialist and prescribe me meds but never took them. Around 2013 my flareups, fevers and joint pains started to go away on its own. I probably get flareups and fever like once every 3 months and last for 3 to 4 days. I usually get fever more often in the summer when im at my boys football games. I regularly deal with dry mouth, tiredness. I sometimes deal with anxiety and depression which i hate. Started seeing a neuropathic dr and taking supplements for about 6 months. Decided to start seeing a rheumatologist because of my family.
Supposedly, I have very mild Lupus compared to many others as well. As long as you are aware of your stress levels, inflammation levels and your health, you should be able to keep it mild. Always be aware of your situations and how they affect your health. Keep up on your meds and treatments too.
I was told that at first too. I think it's different for everyone. to really important that you take care of yourself--don't go off your Plaquenil, stay out of the sun, and keep your stress under control.
I was told in 1997 that I had "peek-a-boo" Lupus. In other words, it pops out randomly but would not last long. About 10 years ago that all changed. I started to get more and more flare-ups with more pain that lasted longer. Since then I've been on regular meds including prednisone and now I take monthly Benlysta infusions. I hope your experience is different. That's the problem with this disease. It's so different from person-to-person.
