Has anyone out there had or been diagnosed with endometriosis?
I'm curious after seeing some info last night on the news about women being diagnosed with endometriosis and an increased risk of heart disease, so I thought, hmmm, wonder if there's a connection with having endometriosis and developing an autoimmune disease later in life. I went on the Internet and guess what, I read 2 research studies, both from accredited sources and they now believe there is a link between them. There are also… read more
I was diagnosed at 20 at 24 I had to have everything removed. One year later I had to have a bladder sling placed. I always wondered if they could be connected.
Wow-thanks for all the responses. I know that many researchers believe that hormones have some kind of connection with autoimmune diseases, but in my case, all the treatments I took for endometriosis such as Danazol(synthetic testosterone) and Premara(to stop my periods), and others did not help. Something I find interesting is that I always showed very low levels of estrogen, and not high levels, and did not have my first period until I was 15, and I always had severe pain with them. I was never allowed to take HRT because I still had endo on my large and small intestine and throughout my abdomen and have them still today. I'm going over this with my rhuematologist on Apr 7th and give everyone any feedback I receive.
Thank you all for your posts. I'll keep on looking at new research out there and will send updates. Hugs to all the Warriors out there.
I was told about 20 years ago that I have endometriosis already had coeliac and now undifferentiated mixed connective tissue disease with lupus symptoms x
I've never heard of this study but I had endometriosis in my early 20's, and 30 years later I have Lupus. Will definitely read more about this.
How do I explain my burnouts to my friends who don't understand the issues with autoimmune diseases?
