I was very very lucky because I was approved the first time I applied without hiring a lawyer or anyone to help me fill out the paperwork. I contacted my congressman and senator and it was actually my congressman's office who contacted me and told me that I had been approved and that I would be receiving a call from SSDI that day. I think it helped that I was a school bus driver and NC DMV took my CDL's and told me that I could no longer drive a school bus.

I received SSI in a one lump sum. I found out I was approved for both SSI and SSDI the same day. Once you are approved for SSDI, you no longer can get SSI. At least that's how it works here in NC.

I got my SSI back payment all at once , after I was approved on 2nd try !! Then monthly payments started !! They go from day you first filed to your approval date !! God bless !!

Hi sweetheart I hope your feeling ok at this time and yes I did get a lump sum but it depends on how long it took them to proses your paper work but anything over 1 mouth you always get it because in 3 mouths my lump sum was 10,000 and that's the truth sweetheart,I hope everything goes right with you and may"God" bless you,Amen.

I need to file for disability, currently out of work on FMLA/short term disability and am supposed to go back to work on May 11. I can't do it anymore, my situation keeps getting worse and worse and my job is way to stressful
