Yes Those red patches shoe the disease is active. Sometimes a cortisone cream helps.

I actually get raised red small bright red patches on my face. The one under my left eye is the size of a pencil eraser and has been their for 4 years now, the one on my right temple is about the size of a half dollar and has been their almost 2 years and I have one starting on my left temple the size of a pencil eraser and started 4 months ago. The butterfly rash comes and goes but these never go away and at times swell up, scale over and are sensitive to touch

Yes most of us get those butterfly rashes. I've been on prednisone here lately so the rash seems to be getting worst. If I go outside in the sun it gets worst. There are several things that can make it worst even fatigue. Most times it will go away if I quit with the prednisone..

Yes mine never fully goes away...I have what's known as a 'butterfly rash' across my face. When I have a flare it get very inflamed and scaley.

Moisturizers don't really help but a thick ointment can ease the uncomfort although I don't find ointments do much to heal...

Hope this helps and you feel better soon
