Has anyone had any success with alternative medicine? Chiropractic, acupuncture, hypnotherapy, reiki, ect.

Nothing beats a good chiropractic/massage combo! If you do it regularly and have a good doctor, then it makes your aches and pains less intense. At least I think so

i am vegetarian with the exception of few fish during the month, I am a scientist and i know we are poison our body with all the craps we are taking. I do massage when i can financially. I used to do mediation twice a day which i truly miss, need to go back. I eat organic food most of the time. i do not buy my grocery from wallmart or costco or any products made in china, Mexico, and others. i found out my body react to certain chemicals in the pesticide. one of my friend want me to try the alkaline water. all the medications are raising our body PH turn to acidic environment which can affect all systems function. A little trick, keeping your head cozy warm in the evening will spare you the migraine headache sometimes. I still drink coffee with hazel nut creams which is my daily pleasure. No alcohol. I think one plan does not fit all. you have to tailor a pain free plan for yourself. My best wishes to everyone

I have had Lupus since I was 14, I'll be 50 next year and have taken many types of meds until about 7-8 years ago. I had, had 2 eye surgeries, I was going blind from the medication. I was also having major issues with my kidneys and liver functions from the meds. My lupus symptoms were better but the side affects were sending me to the hospital to often and my next eye surgery would be a cornea replacement. I decided to take a more holistic route that worked for me. It's not 100% pain free but I am off almost all of my meds. I continue to take the pain and the muscle relaxers for those days when I can't take the pain. However each of them last me for over a year.
My opinion and point of view; I would rather feel some pain and feel alive, rather than in bed feeling gone, but that is me and my philosophy. Each Lupie Warrior Sister has to find her right path. I was born a fighter and I'll be dammed if I let Lupus take me down. Sometimes it wins a battle and sometimes I do, but the war is not over yet.
Each week during the month I do something different. Week 1 of the month I see my chiropractor, week 2 acupuncture, week 3 massage therapist or cupping, week 4 mineral baths at a local hot spring.
During the week I try once a day to either swim, do yoga, walking and meditation.
I started taking herbal supplements 7 or 8 years ago, changed my eating habits to no grains and I try to grow as much as I can of my own veggies. I also stopped eating pork, no coffee and no alcohol. I try to buy as much organic beef and fish as I can afford. I love to dance, camp, hike and I cycle when I can, with my dogs. Even though I hurt, being out in the open air with my rescue babies keeps me going and sane.

Yes, I do deep tissue massage and water exercises, weights. I eat organic food. I use organic self care products. I have lupus for 33 years and Mixed Connective tissue disease for 16 years. I currently take no med. The hard part is finding what combination of superfoods, vitamins, herbs, spices, minerals and teas works for you. Everyone is different!!
