I am a dark skin black women with SLE. I also have a wide variety of skin spots that look quite different from on another. My lupus skin spots are either black or pink in color. For some of the spots I get the raised blister that later turns into a skin lesion. The only way to know is if you talk to a dermatologist. We are every shade of human on this site and the speculation from us lay people can drive you crazy. Good luck.

If you have been diagnosed with lupus you may have photo sensitivity to UVB and UVA Ultraviolet rays and should wear sun screen on exposed skin 365 day of the year, even when it is cloudy outside.

I noticed spot when I stopped taking the Plaquenil. I get them everywhere. The start as small dots on exposed skin. I now use a sunscreen of 40 or higher to protect my skin even under my makeup. I put it on 15 to 20 minutes before going outside.

Also, certain medication will cause it like antibiotics, diuretics, anti inflammatories, hormone meds so read the notices that come with your medications. Many will say beware of exposure to UVB and UVA rays.

It is rumored that Micheal Jackson had Lupus in the form of "Vitiligo" another autoimmune disease that causes changes in pigment, from dark to light (white patches). I am light skinned but I still get white patched throughout my body. The sunscreen along with other precautions has really help slow down the production of pigment changes but once they appear the never go away. Be careful with the "rays".

When I was first diagnosed and when I was finally released from the hospital .I developed these white spots that were on areas on my face and arms and legs that finally developed into tiny water blisters two weeks later they went away. Doctor said something about heat sensitivity and the lupus was aggravating my skin or something like that. If it gets worse see your doctor. But, mine went away and that was the only time. That was over 30 yrs ago.
Keep me posted. Hugs my friend! :)
