This just happened to me @A MyLupusTeam Member. Got bit on Sunday. Bite area looks like a allergic reaction. Swelling, pain and nausea for a few days. Starting to ease up now I think.

I was bitten last week and I thought I was going to lose my mind from all the itch. I had to take double doses of Zyrtec in order to stop the itching and the allergic reaction. My allergist or immunologist has said I could take up to four Zyrtec A day which at first I thought was weird but it was confirmed by a second allergist. So now I try to be very careful when I'm outside. This is also one of the signs i'll van immune disorder. Which I didn't know but I'm learning.

Hi, yes an insect bite is very frequently a trigger for a reaction. Remember your immune system is always in high alert and the toxins or venom in an insect bite would trigger a big reaction. The first thing, is obviously, try to avoid getting stung. Use insect repellent on your cloting (try to avoid the skin). If you do get bitten use a cortisone ointment immediately and keep applying it n the sting until it no onger itches.

When I have an insect bite, I swell up like it's an allergic reaction. I have to go the emergency room and get medication. Benadryl and prednisone. They even gave me an epi pen

Benadryl is basically an allergic reaction medication be it severe or not it also helps with the itchiness that comes behind bug bites such as mosquito for example. When people have severe allergic reactions that's usually the first thing an ED doctor will prescribe the person.

Benadryl is also used for insomnia. @A MyLupusTeam Member I have a really severe allergian to Cinnamon like it's quite different with my allergic to latex or oranges or chocolate with them I just get hives or a rash and a fever but with cinnamon my face, lips and throat swells and I get a rash so I have to take Benadryl and it works wonders, I mean allegra and zyrtec are for allergies too but Benadryl usually does it for me I've taken zyrtec once and it worked pretty good to but I tend to stick to what I know and Benadryl is great it stops the itches I get if I've been bitten by a mosquito or I've eaten something with the cocoa ingredient in it.
