Since I now know that I'm prone to getting ear infections and sore throats what are some good things I can use to prevent water from getting down in my ears when i shower and wash my hair? I know I can't prevent the sore throats really so I won't even ask about that but what can I use to keep water from getting down in my ears I'm being pretty cautious and trying to avoid another really bad ear and sinus infection?

ear plugs are available at any drug store. Some are for air travel. make sure you get the kind that keeps water out for swimming.

Their is some wax you can use I find it at Walmart in the ear section and you can mold it in your ears before you get wet.

Kids certainly are germ magnets, it is normal for a child to have 30 viral exposures before the age of 5. I have nursed a lot of very sick children, I have been very fortunate that I have not got sick from their germs/infection. Rules around minimising cross contamination, in a children's ward, has made me vigilant to not walk in or out germs that could harm someone else, including myself. So the hand washing, gloves, gown mask use has been applied 'universal standards' I posted some where else, that Nursing management has always been very good to me, that I have been able to keep away from kids with active Chicken Pox and Measles, due to me being immuno-compromised/suppressed.

Hi there! Yes, used the earplugs then blow dry your ears to dry out any water that is left there. A drop of alcohol or peroxide from a cutip once in a while is good too. My daughter got some ear infections from swimming in the pool and doc told her to do this and she no longer get infections. Good luck!
