No I use home remedies to avoid hospitals but I have to be caustics and research anything someone suggests to me you don't want to just put anything into your body that can cause lupus or the symptoms of lupus to become worse remember what works for others won't always work for you

I added a holistic MD to my list of doctors. I too was reading and studying ways to help myself. I decided that I needed someone to guide me so that I wasn't harming myself by natural remedies.
She ran tons of lab work and tested hormones etc.
In the end, I was doing pretty well on my own, but I do feel better with the added guidance. She has been able to adjust my supplements and vitamins to proper dosage.
You have to realize that natural remedies can be very harmful as well.
I feel fortunate to have a great traditionally trained MD that uses holistic approach to help me feel better.
She does not suggest me going off any of my medications prescribed by my Rheumy. Although, her hope is to get me off the prednisone.

I also use a combo of medical and natural approaches. The biggest thing that has helped me has been focusing on nutrition. Lots of good doctors out there focus on integrative medicine with autoimmune diseases and nutrition is the basis. (Dr Weil, Dr Oz, Especially Dr Amy Myers). Best wishes

I am seeing a holistic Dr for guidance in this area. I feel like it's smart to do everything natural as possible, but realize it can be dangerous to not have professional guidance. My rheumy has no clue when it comes to holistic approach. I did go to a gluten free diet which helped inflammation. I eat as clean as possible. But, I would recommend seeing a nutritionist or holistic Dr if you want advice as to natural alternative and don't go off your meds without supervision.
