Just curious about lupus and pregnancy, how have your pregnancies gone? And have any of you's fallen pregnant on your medication? Not pregnant just has always been something I've been worried about.
I have a healthy 2 year old boy! I had a preconception appointment first so that I could adjust my medications before trying to get pregnant.
You can ask your specialists if you are planning to have a baby. Actually I have no baby yet but that's what she always tells me and there is something they can do to help you to have a baby
My friend has 4 children. One is blind because she had a flare-up during her pregnancy. The other 3 did not have any complications. Many women with lupus have children that are healthy. Proceed with caution as in any pregnancy. Make sure you'll be able be in a low-stress environment throughout and have a nurturing support system. Discuss it with an OB/GYM and educate yourself on the possible complications. It's important to be healthy on the onset, so if you do decide to get pregnant make sure all your blood work and levels are normal. Consider adding some vitamins and supplements to your diet, exercise and eat healthy. I think stress is a critical factor and having help if you need it. Sounds kind of like having a training regiment to have a baby, but the healthier you are the easier it will be for both you and baby. I'd say it's good advice for anyone planning a pregnancy, not just women with lupus. Hope this was helpful to someone.
not on any medication for my 6 pregnancies . 3 live births and 3 miscarriages . after having my last baby - hair fell out and no energy , the Drs. believe this was the start of Lupus [wise in hindsight] . I wish you nothing but good luck ! Gail x
