I recently had pain for a couple of weeks in one of my arms, then all of a sudden I woke up one morning with severe palsy in that arm, then the other arm started doing the same thing. My face was not affected at all, and my CT scan of my brain said no stroke and my EKG said no heart attack. The doc just sent me home from the ER in that physical state, unable to use my arms or hands, and scared out of my wits. Has anyone else had this happen? it has resolved on its own, but I would like more info⦠read more

Before my daughter was diagnosed with Lupus she woke up EVERY morning and both hands would be frozen...I would have to go in and start moving her fingers and massaging her hands. It always took her an extra 15-20 minutes to even get out of bed....the same thing would happen to her shoulder...she would have to pick up her arm and move it with the other arm. Since being on Plaquenil and prednisone, she has not had this happen again. I never even thought about it being a TIA or stroke. Keep your head up and I will be praying that you find a solution.
I live in a populated area in Texas, and I still have to go to a different city to get good treatment. It's hit or miss here. I do have severe weakness in my hands where I can't drive or type. However, I do not think it is as severe as you are describing. Hope you figure it out soon.
It was like I couldn't make my fingers move when I looked at them and tried to make them move, there was a disconnect with my brain. I live in a tiny town and our county only has 3000 people total even though it is a rather large county in Texas. so the doctors are not always the best. I started having a major flare yesterday so maybe it could be a precursor to that...or it could just be that the stress of being so scared brought on the flare. I don't know which came first, the chicken or the egg. Thank you guys for responding so quickly. I am 48 years old and had a baby when I was 42 so have this amazing 6 year old child and he needs me bigtime since my ex husband isn't in his life. I don't care so much for me since I'm not scared at all of dying...but I want to be here for him because he is such a special and gifted child (Mensa and golf prodigy and VERY sensitive) and I think it would "break" his spirit to be around the abusiveness of my ex-husband and his family. I have GOT to LIVE, and I'm desperate to figure this out for my son's sake.
Maybe a Tia not too sure about it but "1" time similar thing happened only lasted a few seconds but arms where sore hands seemed too have constricted and few people said TIA a lot of people have them but some before the main stroke some never again. had same thing cat scan and ekg but was a few days after it happened and they sent me home as well that's when I found out about TIA I just told MD it was like a episode ?? Nothing they can do but ask about a 80 mg aspirin per day prevent stroke good luck hv a blessed weekend ππ maybe a neurogist thinking about that as well central nervous system runs A lot in lupus soft hugs
