I was diagnosed with UCTD 2 years ago and started right away on 400mg. of generic plaquenil. My Speckled pattern ANA has consistently been positive and my Complement levels have consistently been low while on the medicine. At my appointment with my rheumatologist this month she wrote as my diagnosis, UCTD or Mild SLE Lupus. Is it possible to be diagnosed with Lupus with only these blood tests being abnormal?

I have same diagnosis as you and bloods (Pos ANA low C3 & C4). I get raynaud's when my fingers and toes are cold and I have all the usual fatigue, joint pain etc that comes with Lupus... but no butterfly rash. I'm on 200mg plaquenil (can't go any higher because of my weight) and methotrexate. I know it's annoying having such a vague diagnosis title, but at least we're being treated and hopefully will slow the progression.

I have a suspected SLE diagnosis from low complement levels, negative ANA, positive RNP antibody and high IgG levels.

@A MyLupusTeam Member, Thank you for replying. I do have all my labs done every 6 months. I was never in a flare when my labs were drawn though. Thank you all for helping me understand this a bit more!!

My C4 was on the low end of normal for a long time, however it has been consistently low for over the last 2 years now. It's worth having your complements checked every 6 months. It is an indication of disease activity. In fact, my ANA was low-normal range and my C3 and C4 was very low during a bad flare. That's when I was put onto Methotrexate and that calmed down my symptoms.
