Being a newby to both site and diagnosi.. I have so many questions ... But for starters , does anybody have hot spells- not flashes.... Spells that are ongoing & interfere with life activities?
Yes! I feel hot and sweat profusely quite often, whether I am in an air conditioned space or outside; I even sweat when I am done getting a shower - I usually have to sit in front of a fan for awhile.. My whole face will turn red and sweat will be pouring down my face. It is embarrassing and frustrating!
If you are on prednisone, this will sometimes cause sweating episodes. The benefits with prednisone outweigh having sweating episodes. It does get very uncomfortable when you also have to deal with hot weather. Just having Lupus will cause itching and rashes. I always have Solarcaine handy. This always seems to help with the itching. You hear a lot of horror stories with using prednison, but every doctor I have been too, so far, has put me back on prednisone.
Yes, I will often suddenly start heating up and get hotter and hotter - and like you these are not hot flashes these are spells. I make sure I am not in sunlight, and I get a cold drink. I suspect sometimes that after these spells that I have other problems as well. Sometimes I will get the rash with it or right after it, on my face and behind my knees, or little tiny blisters that itch like fire, and or I may about 30 to 40 min later get severe abdominal problems, and sometimes it just goes away. I think it is what my Rheumy calls "phantom fevers" which is part of Lupus. Good luck.
Yes if you have arthritis it will give you flashes so will some medications. I also sweat around my knees and legs when they are painful at times. Or when I go from one temperature to another will cause flashes for me. gentle hugs and blessings
Hi! Yup sure do get hot spells. If I over heat I sweat, get dizzy, feel like I'm going to pass out. Most of us can't handle being in the sun. That can cause a flare. I can be doing something in the house, and overheat. Then I have to sit with the fan on til I cool off.
