I recently got my CPAP for OSA. For anyone who uses one, does it take a while to get used to it before your sleep improves? I've used it for three nights now. The first two, no difference. Last night I got a little more sleep than usual! WooHoo! 6 hours. I think I was magically expecting a great night's sleep the first night. Should I have had that? Or does it take time? If so, how long?

It takes quite some time to adjust to it. I have a full face mask it took quite some time to get used to. But better sleep is so worth it! God bless hang in there it will get better.b

Consider you now are sleeping connected to a tube with air forceably being pushed into your lungs -- I think anyone would take time to adjust. I did when first on CPAP it was many years ago and there wasn't even a chin strap made for mouth breathers and they had the pressure 2x's the force it should be -- so I could not adjust. Years later with improvements I successfuly used mine for many years. You will get used to it pretty quick when you start to see how much better you feel in day when you are not having apneas all night. But stay in touch with your dr to be sure the pressure is right for you and that you have the best appartus for you. So glad you are sleeping better. :)

I have had mine since 2001, I have had to change my headgear several times until I got the nasal pillows. I started with a Cpap and now have a bipap. My settings have been adjusted downwards over the years. I have had 3 machines. Anytime, I lay down, I put it on. I do wake up during the night, to use the bathroom, but am able to go back to sleep. I don't have nightmares anymore,

Trust me. After 11 years on a bipap , I now regard it as a baby might a pacifier at bedtime. It took me weeks with something to help me rest because I had the bipap and my head was wrapped in a velcro strip to keep my mouth clised during sleep thus losing any benefit of the machine. It willl take a while but is so worth it! Hang in there!
