My new rheumatologist asked me about autonomic. I get very low body temps.
I also just wanted to mention that I have *autonomic dysfunction* caused by lupus even though the doctor insists there's no way to confirm that. My heart rate sitting can be anywhere from 80-100 and standing most of he time it jumps up to 130-140 and stays there, my blood pressure drops upon standing and is generally low while sitting (90/60) and then some very odd days every few weeks I'll have an outrageously high blood pressure and my doctor will get a call from the home nurse. heart rate, BP and temperature all affected and I really cannot believe that they try and diagnose me with a separate illness when I know damn well this started getting worse as my LUPUS flare got worse!
My average is 96.0. Last week when I was really sick it stayed around 95.4. 94.9 is hypothermia. My old rheumatologist joked and said my thermastat was broken. lol
Of I get to 98.6 it's like I have a 100 6 fever. I am frying.
I have a friend who has disautonomia, But she has never mentioned running a low body temperature. She is in her mid 30s, and already on a pacemaker. She was an OR nurse, and a professional dog walker for fun, which was how we met. Now she can not work at either job. I feel so bad for this poor woman who more than most of us, or least than most normal people, truly does not know if any given day is her last on earth, and she is younger than my youngest child. She has a teenage daughter, who so far appears healthy.
For the record, most doctors and hospitals consider anything under 101° not to be a fever. I think the Medicare cut off is 100.6°. Merry Christmas, and happy trails to all.
@kathryann they may diagnose POTS but it stands for Postural Orthostatic Tachycardia SYNDROME. I still believe strongly that for those of us with Lupus, the syndrome is caused by a flare even though doctors may have not explored this area. I have a friend dx'd with dysautonomia and POTS and the only treatment they have for her id monitoring at home with a blood pressure machine and IV saline when symptoms are bad. Whether or not you are diagnosed officially with it, you could still ask your doctor if saline could be provided in situations when you're feeling nauseous or dizzy from it (or overly exhausted)
@A MyLupusTeam Member Thank you, my rheumatologist mentioned autonomic dysfunction but said it had nothing to do with Lupus. The minute I came home and looked it up it said one of the causes was Lupus. Frustrating!!!
