I'm having raised, red, itchy, scaly patches of dry skin. I normally only get this on my hands, elbows and face, especially in the winter. I almost always have a few patched. However, I have recently started getting these on my thighs too. I have an ointment from my dermatologist that normally helps but this seems to be getting worse in the last month or so. Anyone know what to do for this or what is causing it?

I can tell you it might be discoid lupus, I get that, and when I do......boy oh boy do I get it Bad..... they will usually start you out with prednisones, and then medication, right now I am using Triamcinolone cream and azathioprine, both twice a day and methotrexate injection once a week, when I break out it is so bad it usually takes 6 to 9 months to make it go away, and the Pain........you really need to see your rheumatologist and dermatologist together they will find what is right for you

I am rocking a rash all over at the moment. Nothing seems to help me. Steroids ointments do nothing and i rather not use it on my skin since it has so many bad side effects, but nothing, absolutely nothing has worked for me over the last three years. The only thing that minimizes the rash is a gluten free, dairy free and refined sugar free diet.
