How do you manage jaw pain during a flare up? I can barely open or close my jaw. The muscles are so tight.

I got a shot of botox in my jaw for the pain. Has helped significantly!

My dr. Put me on naproxen- 500mg. Two times a day. It helps some times, but avoiding foods that you have to chew a lot helps to. Ex... Tough meats, chewy candies, anything you have to chew on for a long amount of time. My dr. Said eating sitter foods would help too.

Acupuncture helped me. It was the only thing that helped.

You could try Valium as a muscle relaxer and naproxen for inflammation..... Hope it gets better soon..... Nothing worse... I suffer from trigeminal neuralgia.... Very painful... Sending hugs x
