As in, like my doc says, you have so much weird stuff wrong with you that they can't deny something is going on--but you don't have all of the positive tests--just the ANA.

No, but I wish I had been given that dx rather than waiting yrs for an SLE dx. I had only + ANA, + Anti Ribosmal P, low wbc, so 2 rheumatologists dismissed me as evidenced by other normal labs and tests. Undifferenentiated Connective Tissue is a good dx. It gets u same treatment as SLE and prognosis is better, also I think there would be less insurance trouble. It can take yrs to diagnosis SLE (it took me 3 yrs), UCTD gets the process started and treatment intiated early. It also means doctors know ur symptom's are very real. U sound like u have a great doctor ! :)

Adding to above .. my negative ANAs done twice previously finally became positive during a flare. The timing just worked out

I started with discoid lupus, then UCTD, then finally I happened to be in a flare and all my previously normal and negative blood labs became abnormal during that flare. Thats the time I finally got the SLE diagnosis. It took years from GP to gastroenterology to ENT to Derm to Liver Clinic to Endocrinology to Psychiatry (yes, I literally thought no one believed me). Then just happened to have my Rheum appointment during a flare. Rheum only sees me every 3 months because of so many patients. Keep on.

I was told last year I had connective tissue disease. I looked up information on the subject and discovered that Lupus is one of the diseases listed under connective tissue disease.

Yes, before I was diagnosed with SLE I was often told I have Undifferentiated Connective Tissue Disease.
