I have been having problems with my lips. First they were really chapped and I was losing alot of skin. Now that seems to have stopped but my lower lip seems to be slightly swollen and it is darker in color. Now it seems like color is changing on other parts of my lips. Sometimes they have a burning sensation but not all the time. I have recently been diagnosed with lupus. This is all new to me and I am tired all the time but mainly my lips are the problem right now. Hopefully this will… read more
I had a number of lip issues with my lips being very chapped and peeling. I tried all types of lip balms and nothing helped. I felt like I wasn't going to have any lips for very long. I also had a dark spot that the doctor wanted to biopsy and i said no that i didn't want them cutting into my lips. I looked all over the internet and came across a web site called Red Apple Lipstick and read comments on their products and there was a comment from someone who had Lupus or sjogrens disease which is also an autoimmune disease similar to Lupus. This person said their products helped clear up their lips. I decided to purchase their products and they are wonderful and I will never be without their lip products and i carry them everywhere. Wind and sun also do a number on my lips. The products I use are the exfoliate followed by the rallye balm. You do not need to use the exfoliate every time you use the rallye balm. Excellent products and all are natural. They have been a life saver for me. I now have my lips back and they look great. They carry lipstick also which i do not wear but just putting that info out there for whoever.
I've had a biopsy of my lips for lupus. It won't really scar. If anything, the lupus spot scars more. If I were you, I'd get it done so if it is something, you can get it treated. For lupus, they inject the lips with a steroid. I'd also use lip balm with sunscreen to help protect your lips.
First, I would advise you to please have the test done ASAP to ensure that you get any help you need quickly. Waiting could be detrimental. Second, have they tested you for Sjogrens?
Yes, that was one of the first symptoms I had with Lupus, a few years ago. Unfortunately not diagnosed until recently. Am having a flare right now and my bottom lip is on fire and swollen as is my forehead. I think I got too much sun exposure yesterday morning and it caused the flare last night. Try cortisone butyrate cream. It seems to work and is gentle on your face
I have the same issue. My lips swell randomly. They also chap really bad when I have flares.
