Somebody on here said that prednisone will stop you from itching. Is that so with everybody who has this itching problem. I'm so desperate and if it means I put weight then I guess that is just the way it is.
Hi. I'm afraid that that's not true. I was diagnosed when I was 19 at which time I was immediately put on Prednisone. I have taken Prednisone by mouth and/or IV. Today I'm still taking my Best Friend, PREDNISONE!!! I'm 65 now. It does not and will not STOP the itching. Benadryl in either pills or creams are the only, or the best thing you can use for this. I've been using the cream ever since I was diagnosed. There's other things, but Benadryl works the best. As as always, what ever you choose, I hope it works; I assure you that Prednisone does not work. God Bless all my Lupus Sisters and Brothers. Prayers to all of you. Love and Hugs!!!πβΊπβ€ππππππππππΌ
I deal with the lupus itch as well,I take benadryl and zyrtec daily for my sinusitis. I notice when my liver enzymes are elevated or in a flare its at its worest. Try avoiding hot showers also, the crazy world of lupusππππππ
Have you tried oatmeal baths? Oatmeal calms the skin. There are many baths salts such as Aveeno that contain oatmeal. A friend of mine use to put dry oatmeal in a sock and place it under the tub faucet while filling the tub with warm water. Soaking in it helped calm her itchies and dry skin. It's worth a shot! Good luck! Hugs!
I never had an itching problem when I used to take Prednisone but the advice barnchick gave is helpful. Oatmeal is a good ingredient to help soothe your skin. Also try Gold Bond ( the light green one). That helps as well.
I've used Benadryl,Zantac,Benadryl, Caladryl plus anti itch meds the doc gave me and more. There is nothing working and I'm about to tear my hair out what left of it. I've had to keep my nails cut very far back so I don't scratch myself. Cool showers or anything any one mentions I can get relaxed because of the itching any help would be appreciated πππππΌππΌππΌ
