The leg cramps at night are, at times, unbearable. Especially in my right leg and foot. Having had three DVT's over the last 20 years(all in the same place in my right leg) I have been open to and tried many suggestions.
If I have been very active that day I take a soaking bath in Epsom salts and then after I towel off I liberally use Toprocin over my foot, lower leg and on the spot on my inner thigh where the clots were.
The Toprocin is the only thing that has helped relief the cramps. Without it I would not be able to open my hands in the morning.
When I first heard of it and used it I thought about the snake oil salesman story of old.
But it works. The arnica in it also helps any bruising heal MUCH faster. It has no scent, isn't greasy, doesn't stain and isn't sticky.
You can get it at any Whole Foods, Fruitful Yeild, some GNC's and online.
Though they have a cream they label as being for Fibromyalgia, after looking at the inserts it is identical in compounding (as far I can see) to the original.
I have used it for years, sold it in my knitting store and reccomended it to my hand surgeon. The hand surgeon now recommends it to all his Post Op patients since my recovery from 2 surgeries was so much faster and with far less bruising !
Give it a try and let me know if it gives you some relief.
I have come across a very few people that didn't have at least some relief, many have had quite a bit of relief.
Good luck and fingers crossed for any relief that you can find!
I get leg, feet, toes and also upper leg toward the groin area ...sometimes they are so bad it makes me cry..I take Hylands leg cramp pills...they work the best for me..I keep a bottle by my bed, next to my couch and in my pocketbook....most of the time they work in minutes depending on how bad cramps are.
I get them in my feet at night. Rheum has me on flexeril to prevent them and help me sleep.
Yes!!! They are so painful! I'm so sorry you get them as well. I started taking lots of vitamins, rubbing oils, and my husband bought me this shiatsu massager from Brookestone and I put it under my calves and thighs 1hr before bed..it helps me. I also make sure my legs are warm & covered if the air conditioner is on. I hope you find something that helps you ladies. Much love
Also, my doctor has me take it for leg cramps, its very good.
