Has anyone had any good experiences with birth control? ..if so which are you taking and which is safer for us lupies. Id like to hear some ofnyour stories and experiences ..good and bad π
Good luck @A MyLupusTeam Member!
I heard horror stories about the mirena but it seems like my fellow lupies have had good experiences with it ...i do know that we can use certain ones becausd of estrogen so we are limited on options ...ima talk to my rheum about mirena π
Very little of the Mirena hormone enters the bloodstream and there is no estrogen in it. To each their own, but still very safe and effective.
I prefer the Paragard IUD. Just as effective as Mirena but zero hormones. Yes I still have normal periods, but I think I have enough "stuff" affecting me that I don't want to CHOOSE to add anything else to rock the boat. I'd rather live with periods than added hormones.
I was also given the mirena, I was on the nuvaring until I had a seizure and they (my rheumatologist & gyno) felt this was the best option
