Is there anyone out there that has Lupus due to childhood trauma? I was abused when I was 12 & my doc says that my body is confused as a result & that is why I have Lupus. Please tell me that I am not alone in this. :(

I do believe a trauma can cause your body to be physically sick. I had spinal meningitis as a child and almost died. Ever since then I got sick very easily and have never been heathly since. Then at 21 I lost my brother in a tragic car accident. He was my best friend and we were extremely close. There is no history of Lupus in my family, I am the only lucky one! It does make me wonder if those things contributed to my health issues. I think it is very possible. But you are never alone in this fight and hope you find peace.

So many trauma events can trigger lupus and trauma as a child each of us is different but they so say that chronic pain can be linked to that
But in my case I really don't think so
Those of us with lupus just don't fit in some of the boxes that others seem to be determined to put us in
Hope you have a therapist to help you work through that trauma
Definitely needed 🤗

Very sorry to hear this. Have you been getting any mental health treatment as an additional aid? I am a MH clinician and strongly recommend looking into it if you haven't. Trauma history is extremely hard on your body and your mind. It can cause all manner of symptoms. There are new evidence-based treatments now and we all have to provide trauma-informed care, as it is unfortunately such a pervasive and sadly common occurrence. My best wishes to you and finding the right combination of medical and psychological treatment to help. I can definitely tell you that you're NOT alone in this. Hugs!
