Hello all, I am pretty new here. I was recently diagnosed with tumid lupus, but am having a whole lot of other symptoms. From what was explained to me tumid lupus only affects the skin. I am experiencing extreme fatigue crazy weird pain throughout my body. Sometimes it feels as though I am can barely lift my arms and/or legs. I am not a great sleeper in general but the last few nights, I have been experiencing crazy pins and needles in my extremities. I have gone from being a crazy active person… read more
I was just diagnosed with Tumid Lupus also and have a lot of the same symptoms as you. I have just been sent for a ENA panel because they believe there is more. I am trying to find out all I can about Tumid Lupus and I have found there can be other things that go with it that cause these symptoms.
Hello. I was just diagnosed with Tumid Lupus as well in June 2018. What got me in to the dermatologist was a bunch of large brownish red spots on different parts of my body. I went to see a dermatologist who took two biopsy's. Results were Tumid Lupus. My symptoms are fatigue, foggy thinking, muscle and bone pain and hair loss. One episode was very scary for me... I was out with family at a diner and when it was time to leave neither one of my legs would move for a few minutes. That had never happened before.
I am relieved to finally meet people with the same diagnosis as I had only found a few on the internet to date.
I do not know what to expect from this disease and I am a little scared. I have yet to see a rheumatologist.
Lupus is a term given to a condition where the immune system mistakenly attacks itself, particularly the connective tissues of the body. Once the immune system malfunctions it can attack anything inside your body and therefore be called a different label such as attacking of the joints is called Rheumatoid arthritis, attacking of the thyroid, Hashimotos, etc. Once the system malfunctions it can be attacking anything. Scientists actually know very little about the immune system at this time. There are believed to be over a hundred different autoimmune "diseases".
It is also know as lupus erythematosus tumidus (LET) is considered a form of chronic cutaneous lupus erythematosus (CLE). (ANA) occur in only 10%-30% of cases so it is possible to have another type as well.
I was diagnosis with tumid lupus by biopsy just a few weeks ago by my dermatologist. I am waiting to see a rhemy because I am having sever sun sensitivity and fatigue/ pain and a unresponsive migraine every time I breakout. (they original thought I have had shingles 4 times this year which would explain the pain and tiredness and headache but after the biopsy came back that changed.)My dermatologist also said I shouldn't have any symptoms with tumid and that my other symptoms aren't related but my regular doctor didn't think that was the case and referred me to rhemy. I go next week.
