Yes, I get recurrent spells. For me, I notice the pain mostly between my shoulder blades and running through to the sternum. It brought me to the hospital in 2008. This was six years before my lupus diagnosis. No one every really made a determination as to what it was. Back then I was sent home with antacids and an inhaler, go figure. I still don't really know what causes it. I don't have, "that back pain", as my husband & I call it, very often, maybe only once every one or two months. It does seem to coincide with a big meal. It can be horribly painful and I cannot sit still. I find that cat/cow movements, like in yoga, does provide some relief. Oh, and I do have a small hiatal hernia and require Omeprazole on a daily basis for acid reflux. I hope you figure it out @A MyLupusTeam Member and get some relief. Peace, katcove

I get pain in the center of my chest a lot, I chaulk it up to inflammation, pleurisy/ costochrondritis! When I have heartburn I usually feel it in my back as well, if this helps!🙂

I have had the same thing and it is excruciating pain last usually about 5 hours sometimes with vomiting because the pain is so bad. I have a hiatal hernia as well and had a repair done in 2006 but it came back.

I get that too, and it's usually inflammation from pleurisy. I would check with your doctor to be on the safe side. Praying you feel better real soon. Sending big hugs, and healing thoughts your way. Take care, and God bless!
