I am researching dsDNA results and no one else is posting them as a ratio. My results keep doubling for the titer. I'm up to 1:160 and started at 1:40. Anyone have the same issue? I'm getting worried about kidney involvement. I have been doing monthly labs and my kidney function is decreasing. Started with overnight hand and feet swelling. Just wanted to see how other people's results correlated to their dsDNA, or if anyone else received results as a ratio.

Kidney function is measured by urine and blood taken at the same time for creatine clearance, glomerulofiltration rate, proteinuria, and other tests. dsDNA is a titer which means the number reflects how many times they had to dilute your blood to get a sample with no autoantibodies. .The numbers are (Phone number can only be seen by the question and answer creators) etc. Yours is not all that high. It is also not an indicator of kidney function. Those are separate tests. Ask your rheumatologist to run them if they are not doing do already.

Thanks. You are correct. I was thinking ANA.

Your ANA is a ratio and dsDNA is a single number

We do monthly labs to keep track of everything, Cr and BUN are increasing, decreasing GFR, and I'm beginning to have trace protein in my UAs. Thanks. I just don't understand why my results are in titers while everyone else has a specific number. I guess it doesn't matter whether they do the titer or the other?
