I have been a healthy person my whole life until 4 years ago
I have had my body literally fall apart it feels like .. every test under the sun.. nothing showed up ... had some low iron and low b12 other then that nothing until last November when positive Ana and Anti-dsDNA ... low norm c4 and low norm c3 ... went to specialist and she’s like oh I don’t think it was high enough and then proceeds to give me chinese remedies to follow 😣
Redid test and now negative my Anti-dsDNA was only 1 %… read more
Your test results should be available to you either by the drs portal or directly through the lab. You can usually either call them or signup on their website and access your results. You should be aware of them!
I had dsDNA antibodies but they were low (about 2) and they test isn’t considered positive til it reaches 10. So it was completely dismissed by my doctor.
The dsDNA result is very important as I believe it really doesn’t show up without a clinical cause whether it be Lupus or another disease. If yours was clinically positive without a doubt I would insist on more tests! DsDNA is associated with more severe Lupus as it can predict kidney involvement and if that’s the cause you don’t want to wait for a diagnosis since the sooner you are treated for inflammation the better
I forget my amount but she said yes it was positive for both test however she said some healthy ppl come out with positives 🙄🙄...
So annoyed that I have kept diaries of my pain and symptoms and she is disregarding it... so I am asking for a new doctor...
I still manage to live life to “fullest” however I want answers and after reading reviews very negative about lupus and she is positive for RA patients ... soo it seems ya lupus patients are often overlooked
The 2nd negative for dsDNA should NOT matter. It goes up and down, positive and negative often dependent on disease activity at the time of testing
DsDNA is VERY lupus specific as it is evidence of (I believe I have this description correct) the immune system attacking the dna in cell structure. Whatever the clincal definition, dsDNA is probably the best evidence of Lupus we have and it’s 1 of the 11 official lupus critria as is a positive ANA
I had terrible luck with my rheumatologist who seemed to have an almost impossible standard to meet for diagnosis and treatment. Since illness waxes and wanes and blood counts and antibodies fluctuate constantly, my doctor wanting to see every bit of evidence all in one round of blood tests is ludicrous. I’m looking for another
What was your dsDNA level? The test can be totally negative or the test can pick up on dsDNA but still not reach the threshold labs and doctors consider “positive”
Your dsDNA level might be partially behind your doctors attitude. Do you remember what the count was?
I am very sorry to hear about your aunts. I lost my aunt in the fall due to lupus. You’d think this would make a difference to our doctors
Keep searching for answers!
I have a relative with severe back pain. She is fortunate to live in a state where cbd salve, high potency, is legal. She swears by it. She rubs it on and pain vanishes
I definitely feel they are shrugging this off but you know your own body better than anyone else. I feel that while others who know you see the decline and being under stress when I was in college between the ages of 28-33, working and a single parent going through a difficult divorce, the stress really triggered a lot of physical issues that brought out the final diagnosis of Lupus and Fibromyalgia. I knew since I was a child of age 4 or 5 something was wrong when I was in the sun and/or heat. It took a long time to get a diagnosis as that was in the 1950's. I was finally diagnosed in 1983. I was first diagnosed with a positive ANA and then my rheumatologist did in depth tests to narrow down the autoimmune diseases. As I got older more and more presented itself with RA, CREST, Sjogrens, Hashimoto's Thyroid, as well as Mitral Valve Prolapse. The pcp at the time which is why I changed doctors told me I was just depressed.
